New York, NY – Producer Hal Luftig announced today that the first-ever Broadway revival of Children of a Lesser God would be the most accessible play in Broadway history with three ways audiences can enjoy the Tony Award®-winning play at Studio 54 (254 West 54th Street).

At every performance, the production will feature supertitles, where the play’s text has been seamlessly incorporated into the show’s scenic design, allowing audiences to follow Mark Medoff’s ground-breaking script without detracting from the actors’ performances.

Additionally, every performance will feature closed captioning available through the GalaPro app which is available on Apple or Android devices. After downloading and creating an account, when audience members arrive at Studio 54, they can select Children of a Lesser God and the app will guide them through the setup process and allow them to stream captions easily. To download the app and for additional information, please visit: galaprompter.com/#galapro-app

Finally, at select performances of Children of a Lesser God, American Sign Language interpreters will be present. For dates and to buy tickets to the select performances, please visit childrenofalessergodbroadway.com/

“Everyone working to bring Children of a Lesser God to Broadway is incredibly passionate about making sure as many people as possible can experience this brilliant production,” Mr. Luftig said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that the new technology from GalaPro providing closed captions and our supertitles at Studio 54 are working to make theatre more accessible to everyone.”

Co-producer Nyle DiMarco said, “I’m proud to be working alongside a team so open and receptive to the needs of deaf audience members. Too often, deaf audiences are an afterthought in the creation and enjoyment of art, but Children of a Lesser God has made our needs paramount without sacrificing anyone’s appreciation of the terrific performances happening at Studio 54.”

Actress Lauren Ridloff, who stars in Children of a Lesser God as Sarah Norman said, “All too often, deaf audiences can only attend a performance when a production hosts ASL interpreters. I’m proud to be making my Broadway debut in a production that is working to make theatre more accessible, and I look forward to the day where every performance on Broadway can be enjoyed by all audience members.”

Directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, Children of a Lesser God stars film and television favorite Joshua Jackson and Ms. Ridloff, alongside Emmy Award® winner and Golden Globe Award® winner Anthony Edwards, Drama Desk Award nominee and Obie Award winner Kecia Lewis, Julee Cerda, Treshelle Edmond, and John McGinty.

One of the most indelible love stories of the modern age, Children of a Lesser God

brings to life the passionate and personal connection between a teacher at a school for the deaf (Mr. Jackson) and the remarkable woman (Ms. Ridloff) he meets there. Now, Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon’s “outstanding production” (NPR) invigorates this landmark play with astounding new relevance and a pair of performances that cannot be missed. Jesse Green of The New York Times raves, “Joshua Jackson is a revelation in a tour de force role, and Lauren Ridloff is sensational and explosive.”

Winner of the Tony, Drama Desk, and Olivier Awards for Best Play, Children of a

Lesser God caused a sensation among audiences and critics alike when it

premiered in 1980. Don’t miss this exhilarating new production, back on Broadway

for the first time ever.

The creative team for Children of a Lesser God will feature set design by Tony Award winner Derek McLane, costume design by Dede Ayite, and lighting design by Tony Award nominee Mike Baldassari. Casting for the production is by Telsey + Company.

The producing team is led by Hal Luftig and includes executive producer Tamar Climan, producer Craig Haffner, and associate producer Sandy Block.
