What do you consider to be your best asset?

Vulnerability, charm and hustle.

What was your proudest moment?

Holding the hard cover copy of my book for the first time. It’s heavy!

What is your favorite drink?

At the moment, kombucha. I have a very acid-friendly palette and it’s the closest thing to melted sour patch kids or vinegar in soda form.

What is your favorite food?

Single ingredient: lemons. Single dish: French fries. Last meal: Sole Meuniere with frites and extra lemon wedges.

What is your favorite condiment?

Homemade Sriracha-Coconut Oil Aioli. Or a bucket of spicy Kewpie mayo.

What is your current obsession?

Making my own homemade kombucha, watching the bacterial blob in the center of the jar multiply, and creeping out dinner guests by making them touch it.

If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?

I’ve more or less kicked coffee in the last year and feel great about it.

What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?

To have Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone play my partner and I in the film adaptation of my memoir.

What is the one thing you waste too much money on?

Organic rotisserie chicken from my bougie local market. It’s so easy to make, but there’s just tastes better.

What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?

Deep diving on Instagram.

What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?

Anxiety/my own mind.

What is the single best trait you inherited or learned from your parents?

Karmic generosity from dad. Cooking/love of olive oil from mom.

What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?

Jewish guilt/discomfort with the word “no” from dad. Pantry hoarding/eating standing up in the kitchen/using fingers as utensils from mom.

What in the world most thrills you?

The spark of a new idea.

What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?

Wellness in a bottle.

What was the single most embarrassing moment you’ve ever experienced on the job?

Royally fucking up a biscuit recipe. It was a Cookbook launch party I was catering for a very well-respected group of food writers, chefs and restauranteurs. The author of the book had to rename them “biscuit cookies” during service.

What is your favorite place in the world?

Paris. I’m basic.

What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?

Wit. And willingness to take out the trash.

Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?

Dogs. I’m allergic to cats.

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?

A long meal, at a big round table, in an exotic city, with my 10 favorite people.

What is your personal motto?

Healthy hedonism; find the middle ground between the things that nourish your body and the things that feed your spirit.
