New York, NY (May 22, 2017) This past weekend, the cast of the hit off-Broadway show Spamilton celebrated their 300th performance.  The critically acclaimed show has come a long way, with thanks to popular demand, from the 18-show engagement that was originally planned.  In a post-show reception, writer and director Gerard Alessandrini and producer John Freedson, along with cast members Chris Anthony Giles, Tristan J. Shuler, Nicole Vanessa Ortiz, Larry Owens, Jenny Stern, and Glenn Bassett celebrated the 300th performance, which occurred on Saturday, May 20, 2017.  Producers Christine Pedi and David Zippel surprised the company with cake in celebration.

Spamilton has gained popularity both with fans and critics, having recently won an Off-Broadway Alliance Award for “Best Unique Theatrical Experience” and the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs “Show of the Year” Award.  Additionally, the show has nominations for the Drama Desk Awards for Best Lyrics by Gerard Alessandrini and Featured Actress in a Musical for Nora Schell.

The celebrations continue for this runaway success as the show prepares to move to the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater / 47th Street Theater at the beginning of June for an open-ended run as well as a new LA production which will begin later this autumn.  The show released an official cast album which is also now available on vinyl.

In addition to Alessandrini, the creative team of Spamilton includes Gerry McIntyre (Choreography), Dustin Cross (Costume Design), Richard Danley and Fred Barton (Musical Arrangements), and Michael Cassara (Casting Director). The show is produced by John Freedson, Christine Pedi, David Zippel, and Gerard Alessandrini.
