New York Stage and Film

Beginning this spring, newly named artistic director Christopher Burney will begin work at New York Stage and Film alongside current artistic director Johanna Pfaelzer prior to departing at the end of the summer to assume her new position as Artistic Director of Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Founded in 1985 by Producing Directors Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, and Leslie Urdang, New York Stage and Film is a not-for-profit company dedicated to the development and production of exciting new works for theater and film. Among the impressive list of collaborators: renowned playwrights such as John Patrick Shanley, Richard Greenberg, Jon Robin Baitz, Theresa Rebeck, John Guare, and Eve Ensler; musical theater impresarios Lin-Manuel Miranda, Michael Mayer, Michael Greif, Jason Robert Brown, Christopher Gatelli, Stephen Flaherty, Duncan Sheik, Michael John LaChiusa, and many others.

Powerhouse is Vassar & New York Stage and Film’s annual summer collaboration which brings together some of the most influential theatrical voices working today for fully-staged productions, workshop presentations, and readings of new plays and musicals in progress.
