Founded in 1985 by Producing Directors Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer and Leslie Urdang, and now under the leadership of Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer, New York Stage and Film is a not-for-profit company dedicated to the development and production of exciting new works for theater and film. Among the impressive list of collaborators: renowned playwrights such as John Patrick Shanley, Richard Greenberg, Jon Robin Baitz, Theresa Rebeck, John Guare, and Eve Ensler; musical theater impresarios Lin-Manuel Miranda, Michael Mayer, Michael Greif, Christopher Gatelli, Stephen Flaherty, Duncan Sheik, Michael John LaChiusa and many others. The Winter Gala, a fundraising event to support New York Stage and Film’s year-round theater and film development initiatives, was held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers and it honored Tina Fey and Founder & CEO of Audible, Inc., Don Katz.
Powerhouse is Vassar & New York Stage and Film’s annual summer collaboration which brings together some of the most influential theatrical voices working today for fully-staged productions, workshop presentations, and readings of new plays and musicals in progress.
The 34th Powerhouse season recently concluded, and was headlined by Duncan Sheik, Jason Robert Brown, Steven Sater, Halley Feiffer, and others.
