The album is produced by four-time Emmy® Award-winner Jeffrey Lesser and three-time Tony Award-winner Brown (Parade, The Bridges of Madison County), who also serves as arranger, orchestrator and pianist. Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Sean Patrick Flahaven, Chief Theatricals Executive for Concord, is the album’s co-producer. The album was recorded by Isaiah Abolin and mastered by Oscar Zambrano with art direction by Derek Bishop.
With a book by Jonathan Marc Sherman and conceived and directed by Daisy Prince, this timely new musical tells the story of two talented young journalists: a fast-rising writer who must confront how far he’ll go for the ultimate scoop, and an editor who must decide how far she’ll go to stop him. The Connector’s world premiere production from MCC Theater ran in a limited engagement from January 12 through March 17, 2024.
The album features original cast members Scott Bakula, Max Crumm, Hannah Cruz, Ashley Pérez Flanagan, Danielle Lee Greaves, Mylinda Hull, Daniel Jenkins, Jessica Molaskey, Fergie Philippe, Eliseo Román, Ben Levi Ross, Ann Sanders and Michael Winther.

BIOGRAPHIES
Jason Robert Brown is the ultimate multi-hyphenate – an equally skilled composer, lyricist, conductor, arranger, orchestrator, director and performer – best known for his dazzling scores to several of the most renowned musicals of our time. These include his two previous collaborations with The Connector director Daisy Prince: the 1995 song cycle Songs for a New World and the generation-defining The Last Five Years.
The Connector is Jason’s eighth full-length musical, adding to a body of work that includes Parade, which garnered Jason the Tony Award for Best Original Score; and The Bridges of Madison County, for which Jason received two Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Orchestrations. His other musicals include Honeymoon in Vegas, 13 (which became a Netflix film in 2022), and Mr. Saturday Night starring Billy Crystal. Richard LaGravenese’s film of The Last Five Years was released in 2015. Parade has been the subject of two major revivals: the first, directed by Rob Ashford, at London’s Donmar Warehouse and then at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles; and the second, Michael Arden’s acclaimed Tony Award-winning Best Revival of a Musical, starring Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond. His newest musical, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, a collaboration with Taylor Mac, begins performances next week at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre.
As a soloist or with his band, Brown has performed concerts around the world. For six years, his ongoing monthly performances at New York’s SubCulture featured many of the music and theatre world’s most extraordinary performers, including a sold-out concert at Town Hall with Stephen Sondheim. His newest collection Coming From Inside the House, featuring Ariana Grande and Shoshana Bean, commemorates the final SubCulture concert, recorded remotely during the pandemic. His previous albums, How We React and How We Recover and Wearing Someone Else’s Clothes, are available from Ghostlight Records. He has also contributed music to the hit Nickelodeon television series “The Wonder Pets” and “Sesame Street.” He has taught at the USC School of Dramatic Arts, Harvard University, Princeton University and Emerson College.
Brown is the winner of the 2018 Louis Auchincloss Prize, the 2002 Kleban Award for Outstanding Lyrics and the 1996 Gilman & Gonzalez-Falla Foundation Award for Musical Theatre. His songs have been performed and recorded by Ariana Grande, Jennifer Nettles, Brandi Carlile, Audra McDonald, Kristin Chenoweth, Billy Porter, Betty Buckley, Renée Fleming, Jon Hendricks and many others.
Brown studied composition at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. He is married to fellow composer Georgia Stitt. www.jasonrobertbrown.com
