What do you consider your best asset?
My eternal optimism. And my hair.

What was your proudest moment?
Each time I’m invited to work in the theater, starting with The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

What is your favorite drink?
Anything served on the beach in Mexico.

What is your favorite food?
The list of nominees is vast and ever-changing. Current contenders include the Prime Rib at Daniel’s Tête D’or, Nobu’s Yellowtail Jalapeno, the Joe Allen burger, and both the Caesar Salad and the Crab Cake at The View.

What is your favorite condiment?
Dijon mustard and mayonnaise, specifically on French fries.

What is your current obsession?
Franz Lizt’s “Liebesträume,” the insane energy of the theater district in April, and watching “With Cat-Like Tread” over and over again.

If you could give up  any one of your vices, what would it be?
Diet Coke, or the mayo and French fries.

What is the one accomplishment you long for most?
Mastering bending a note on an E Flat Blues Harmonica (preferably accompanying an Aretha Franklin recording).

What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
Flowers, food, and travel. Definitely not clothes.

What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?
I’m not much of a timewaster.

What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
Critics (including my internal one).

What’s the single greatest trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
A belief in the power of theater to wake up a sleeping community.

What in the world most thrills you?
The amazing potential of beginnings, including overtures, meet-and-greets, and first previews.

What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?
Digital substitutions for live experiences and real interaction.

What is your favorite place in the world?
The Amalfi Coast.

What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
Patience, a sense of style, and a sense of humor. Major bonus points for love of theater.

Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
I think they’re both miracles. I’ve had both in multiple numbers.

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?
A perfect day: lunch and a walk in Central Park with both my kids, an evening at the theater with Jane, a nightcap with a view.

What is your personal motto?
“What if…?”
