New York, NY (November 15, 2024) – It was announced today, that “Hadestown – Live from London,” the highly anticipated original West End cast album for Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning Best Musical Hadestown, recorded live at the Lyric Theatre in London where it is currently performing, will be released by Sing It Again Records on Friday, December 6, with pre-orders available starting today, Friday, November 15.

“Hadestown – Live from London” will be released in three physical formats – standard black vinyl, a limited-edition deluxe gatefold “pop-up” vinyl and compact disc – alongside digital download and streaming services.

The pre-order period for customers begins today at the official Sing It Again Records online store hosted by Burning Shed at https://hadestown.lnk.to/LiveFromLondon.

The deluxe gatefold vinyl is available for pre-order exclusively from the official online store and comes in a hand-numbered limited edition of just 3000 copies complete with a unique “pop-up” scene featuring the London cast and stage set.

While stocks last, fans pre-ordering the album from the official UK store in any one of the three physical formats will receive an exclusive print of the cover art signed by Anais Mitchell. This offer is limited to one print per order.

Starting Friday, December 6, the compact disc and standard vinyl editions will be available from the merchandise stands in the Lyric Theatre, London and all good music retailers in the UK.

“Hadestown – Live from London” will be released digitally and can be experienced in surround sound via one of the very first dedicated Dolby Atmos mixes to be created for a West End musical.

“Hadestown – Live from London” was recorded during a live performance at the Lyric Theatre, London on August 25, 2024, and features the original London cast including Dónal Finn (Orpheus), Grace Hodgett Young (Eurydice), Zachary James (Hades), Melanie La Barrie (Hermes) Gloria Onitiri (Persephone) Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne, and Allie Daniel (Fates), Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Beth Hinton-Lever, Waylon Jacobs, and Christopher Short (Workers), with Lucinda Buckley, Winny Herbert, Ryesha Higgs, Ediz Mahmut, Miriam Nyarko, Brianna Ogunbawo and Simon Oskarsson as Swings.

Blending American songwriting traditions, from indie folk, to pop, blues, and New Orleans-inspired jazz, Hadestown has music, lyrics, and book by acclaimed Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winner Anaïs Mitchell who originated Hadestown as an indie theatre project and acclaimed album, before transforming the show into a genre-defying new musical alongside artistic collaborator and Tony® Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin.

The compact disc and digital editions of “Hadestown – Live from London” include more than 20 minutes of additional music featuring five songs exclusive to those formats.

“Hadestown – Live from London” is produced by Todd Sickafoose, David Lai and Anaïs Mitchell, and co-produced by Mara Isaacs and Liam Robinson. The Dolby Atmos mix was produced by Todd Sickafoose, Alan Douches and David Stingle. Executive Producers are Dale Franzen, Tom Kirdahy and Hunter Arnold.

The release of “Hadestown – Live from London” follows the success of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hadestown, which is one of the most streamed cast albums of all time with over 500 million streams to date.  It won the Grammy Award® for ‘Best Musical Theatre Album’, topped Billboard’s Broadway Cast Recording chart and debuted at #8 on the Top Album chart.

To celebrate the release of “Hadestown – Live from London” there will be a special album signing event with members of the Original West End Company, on Sunday 8 December at the Lyric Theatre in London.

Hadestown opened to huge critical acclaim at the Lyric Theatre, London in February this year, five years after a sold-out engagement at the National Theatre in 2018. The Olivier Award-nominated production has recently announced its extension in the West End until 28 September 2025.

Hadestown takes you on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back, intertwining two mythic love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone.  A deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience, Hadestown invites you to imagine how the world could be.

Hadestown celebrated its 5^th anniversary on Broadway in April 2024. It holds the record for the highest grossing musical and longest running show in the 100-year history of the Walter Kerr Theatre and is currently among the top 50 longest running shows in Broadway history (and still moving up the list).

The Hadestown creative team features Obie Award® winner and Chita Rivera Award® winner David Neumann (choreography), Tony Award® winner Rachel Hauck (scenic design), four-time Tony® Award nominee Michael Krass (costume design), two-time Tony Award® winner Bradley King (lighting design), Tony® Award winners Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz (sound design), Liam Robinson (music supervision and vocal arrangements), Tony® Award winners Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose (arrangements and orchestrations), Ken Cerniglia (dramaturgy), Maria Crocker (UK Associate Director), and Tarek Merchant (Musical Director). Casting for the London production is by Jacob Sparrow.

Hadestown is produced in London by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, Tom Kirdahy and the National Theatre in association with JAS Theatricals.

Hadestown opened in 2016 at the New York Theatre Workshop before a production in Edmonton, Canada and a sold out run at the National Theatre in 2018.  After further development, Hadestown premiered at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theater, winning 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical. It now holds the record for the highest grossing musical and longest running show in the theatre’s 100-year history.  The North American tour is celebrating its second year of sold-out performances with many return engagements also announced from July 2023.

Hadestown was developed with funding from the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center and was further developed by The Ground Floor at Berkeley Repertory Theatre.  Hadestown was co-conceived by Ben t. Matchstick.
