This nine-part documentary concert series features evenings of eclectic entertainment that celebrate the best of New York City’s cultural landscape and is dedicated to presenting celebrated music, theater, and cabaret stars, while also introducing dynamic rising talent.

Live from Gramercy Park at The Players features Robin De Jesus (In The Heights), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent), Brendan Maclean, Sxip Shirey, Samora Pinderhughes, Bridget Barkan, Molly Pope, Amy G, Emma & The Hungry Truth and Erin Markey, Karine Plantadit, Elizabeth Davis, Bill Bowers, and more. The series is filmed at The Players, the historic actors club founded by Edwin Booth in 1888, located in New York City’s Gramercy Park.

Live from Gramercy Park at The Players will be available beginning today, Wednesday, May 12, at $10.99 for the entire series and will be available for viewing for 48 hours after purchase only on Broadway On Demand.

Live from Gramercy Park at The Players is an EsoteriCam Production created by Michael Barra and directed by Christian Campbell, Frank Dale Arroyo, Maxx Reed and Russell Uddin. Executive Producers are Lance Horne, Michael Barra and Christian Campbell.

EPISODE 2 | Sxip Shirey & Xavier Smith
Avant-garde soundmaker Sxip Shirey theatrically toys with novelty sounds, creating music with penny whistles, a train whistle, bells — and even a marble. Featuring singer and artist Xavier Smith.

EPISODE 3 | Samora Pinderhughes
Composer Samora Pinderhughes, trumpeter Riley Mulherkar, vocalist Jehbreal Jackson use jazz and spoken word to heal from the traumas of love and white supremacy.

EPISODE 4 | Bridget Barkan
Bridget Barkan brings a soulful sound and a spiritual message as she sings acoustic originals of relationships and love, and talks of finding her truth in art and life.

Seasoned storytellers & Broadway veterans share the stage and memorable performances: Daphne Rubin-Vega sings a Lance Horne original, Robin De Jesus belts a heartfelt pop ballad, Bill Bowers mimes a childhood tale, and Elizabeth Davis sings of rekindled love.

Eccentric performers share unique pieces: Australian brother-sister duo, Emma & the Hungry Truth, created with a tribal drum, and comic-cabaret singer Erin Markey personifies “Hurricane Sandy”.

EPISODE 7 | Karine Plantadit, Audrey Martells, & Belden Bullock
Former Alvin Ailey soloist Karine Plantadit opens a dialogue on the art of love, and brings movement to the poem “Treble” written and spoken by Audrey Martells while jazz bassist Belden Bullock accompanies.

EPISODE 8 | Molly Pope
Known for big, brassy numbers, Molly Pope challenges herself to end on a quiet note, but ultimately knows she can’t fool the audience or herself.

EPISODE 9 | Amy G
Clown Amy G brings the laughter wearing balloon boobs and roller skates, while seriously discussing playing a role where failure becomes fact and shame, entertainment.

The Players is the former residence of renowned Shakespearean actor Edwin Booth.  Designed in the Greek revival style, the mansion’s entrance was re-designed by architect Stanford White, and furnished with Mr. Booth’s personal collection of props, costumes and vast library of theatrical literature, The Booth-Hampden Library. The Clubhouse was turned over to the members on December 31, 1888. That year Booth and 15 other incorporators (including Mark Twain and General William Tecumseh Sherman) founded The Players. Located in a Greek Revival townhouse facing historic Gramercy Park, modeled after London’s famed Garrick Club, The Players was the first American club of its kind. Its purpose was “The promotion of social intercourse between members of the dramatic profession and the kindred professions of literature, painting, architecture, sculpture and music, law and medicine, and the patrons of the arts.” Today, men and women from a variety of professions in the arts, business, and commerce enjoy The Players’ unique spirit of conviviality and tradition.
