New York, NY (July 25, 2025) – Producers Lia Vollack, John Branca, and John McClain announced today that the Tony and Olivier award winning, smash-hit musical, MJ, will embark on a first ever International Asian Tour in October 2026, and a major UK Tour in 2027, continuing to bring the electrifying production to audiences across the globe. Both UK and International Asian Tour details will be revealed in the coming months.
The UK and International Asian Tour announcements mark a major milestone in the continued global success of MJ, which has already been seen by more than 5 million audience members globally through acclaimed productions on Broadway, in London’s West End, Hamburg, Sydney, and across the U.S. National Tour. With Melbourne set to welcome the award-winning production this September, the global fervor for MJ continues to grow. Featuring over 25 of Michael Jackson’s most iconic hits, the production has been praised for its innovative storytelling, high-octane performances and celebration of one of the most influential entertainers of all time.

Since beginning performances in December 2021, MJ has played to over 1.9 million patrons on Broadway, has broken the box office record at the Neil Simon Theatre 11 times. The Broadway production currently stars Elijah Rhea Johnson, with Matte Martinez set to take over the role on September 2. The North American Tour is currently playing in Eugene, OR at the Hult Center starring Jordan Markus, the Olivier Award-winning West End production is currently playing at London’s Prince Edward Theatre starring Jamaal Fields-Green, the German production is currently playing at Hamburg’s Stage Theater starring Benét Monteiro, and the Australian production is currently playing at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre starring Roman Banks. As previously announced, the production will begin performances in Melbourne on September 9, starring Ilario Grant.
MJ features a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Christopher Wheeldon. The internationally renowned creative team for MJ also includes Scenic Design by Tony Award and two-time Emmy Award winner Derek McLane (Moulin Rouge! The Musical), Lighting Design by six-time Tony Award winner Natasha Katz (Once), Costume Design by Tony, Emmy, and most recently Academy Award winner Paul Tazewell (Hamilton, Wicked), Sound Design by Tony Award and Olivier Award winning Gareth Owen (Come From Away), Projection Design by two-time Tony Award nominee Peter Nigrini (Dear Evan Hansen), Hair & Wig Design by two-time Emmy Award nominee Charles LaPointe (The Color Purple) and Make-up Design by Joe Dulude II . Musical Supervision is by Tony Award nominee David Holcenberg (Matilda), and the Orchestrations and Arrangements are by David Holcenberg and Tony Award winner Jason Michael Webb (The Color Purple).
