SLC’S LEADING CRITICS RAVE

“SENT SHIVERS DOWN MY ARMS!”
– UTAH THEATRE BLOGGERS ASSOCIATION
Thank you so much, the air conditioner was working particularly well that evening.

“NEARLY BLOWS THE ROOF OFF THE THEATER!”
– UTAH ARTS REVIEW
So sorry. We’re assured the roofs on Broadway are much sturdier.

“THIS HOE-DOWN OF A SHOW
WITH NON-STOP, RAUCOUS JOKES DELIGHTS THE AUDIENCE.”
– FRONT ROW REVIEWERS UTAH
We’re going to pretend like you didn’t call us that…
And sex work is real work thank you very much.

“THE SCORE, FILLED WITH EARWORMY NUMBERS,
IS AN ALL-KILLER, NO-FILLER LINEUP
THAT YOU CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR AGAIN.”
– SALT LAKE CITY WEEKLY
That’s really interesting. We just use our worms for fishing, but live and let live.

New York, NY (January 17, 2023) – Shucked, the new musical coming to Broadway, opened last Fall to rave reviews in the show’s rather unorthodox out-of-town try out at Salt Lake City’s Pioneer Theatre Company. Some might even call the idea of going to Utah “crazy,” but after watching Jen Shah get arrested outside of Heather’s salon on that episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City!!” And then Jen just got convicted!!! And now she might go to prison!!!!! That is truly crazy.

Anyway, Shucked the new musical, with book by Tony Award winner Robert Horn and score by the Nashville songwriting team of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien has left audiences “struggling to catch their breaths between raucous laughs,” (The Gephardt Daily), with a score “filled with earworms you can’t wait to hear again,” (Salt Lake City Weekly) and a “perfectly cast company with sublime leads that brings this distinctive show to life” (Broadway World – Salt Lake City).

Shucked will play Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street) this spring with preview performances beginning Wednesday, March 8 for a Tuesday, April 4 opening night.

Tickets are on sale now via www.shuckedmusical.com and www.ticketmaster.com. Additionally, Shucked is offering the return of Preview Pricing with orchestra seats starting as low as $69 for all preview performances through the final preview on Sunday, April 2. For more information, visit www.shuckedmusical.com.

With choreography by Sarah O’Gleby, and music supervision, music direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Tony Award nominee Jason Howland, the musical comedy stars (in alphabetical order) John Behlmann (Tootsie), Kevin Cahoon (The Who’s Tommy), Andrew Durand (Head Over Heels), Caroline Innerbichler (Frozen North American Tour), Ashley D. Kelley (Bella: An American Tall Tale), and Alex Newell (Once On This Island). Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.

What do you get when you pair a semi-neurotic, New York comedy writer with two music superstars from Nashville? A hilarious and audacious farm-to-fable musical about the one thing Americans everywhere can’t get enough of: corn. Shucked is the new musical comedy that proves sometimes tearing down a few walls, rather than growing them, is the only way to preserve our way of life. Shucked is about to turn Broadway on its ear and offer a kernel of hope for our divided nation.

Shucked is produced by Mike Bosner, Jason Owen, AEG Presents / Jay Marciano / Gary Gersh, Richard Smith, Jeffrey A. Sine, Walter Schmidt, Bob Boyett, Jeremiah J. Harris, KSO Productions, James L. Nederlander, DudaAllen, John Gore Organization, Madison Wells Live, S&Co., Terry Schnuck, and ZKM Media.

The design team for Shucked includes Tony Award winner Scott Pask (scenic design), Drama Desk Award nominee Tilly Grimes (costume design), Tony Award nominee Japhy Weideman (lighting design), Tony Award winner John Shivers (sound design), Academy Award winner and Emmy Award winner Mia Neal (hair and wig design), and Stephen Kopel, C12 Casting (casting director).

Additional news for Shucked will be announced in the coming weeks.
