Abby Mueller
Abby Mueller knows the American musical. Her presence is generous and her talent is unmistakable. This season, Abby is making her way around the United States, starring in the touring production of the hit musical Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. Before this, she was featured in productions of Kinky Boots on Broadway, 1776 at Asolo Reperatory Theater, and Mary Zimmerman's Candide at the Huntington. Abby is a one-of-a-kind performer and an incredible person and we're thrilled to have her On the Couch.
What do you consider to be your best asset?
My biting wit. Or, I don’t know, I’m a pretty good speller? I’m also usually fairly effective at putting babies to sleep…
What was your proudest moment?
I feel proud to be supporting myself doing what I love.

Red wine, bourbon

French frie–oops I mean salad

What is your current obsession?
In the dressing room, I literally listen to “She Used To Be Mine” by Sara Bareilles and Renee Elise Goldsberry’s “Satisfied” from Hamilton back to back. Over and over again. Oh, and Will Van Dyke and Jeff Talbot’s “View of the River.”
If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
Can I give up five? That’d be more helpful.
What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?
To be able to maintain a life and career that makes me happy and fulfilled.
What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
Well, here on tour it’s been those silly luxuries like “food” and “housing” (I know, I’m the worst!)

Compassion.

Doing good, heartfelt work and feeling it connect with fellow artists and the audience. And rollercoasters.

CUT-OUTS. JUST STOP IT.
What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?
I tend to block them out. That’s healthy, right?
What is your favorite place in the world?
Grand Lake, Colorado. And Disney World.
What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
A sense of humor. (Preferably a good one.)
