AMERICAN THEATRE WING
MARKS 2nd YEAR OF
“IN THE WINGS”

SERIES SPOTLIGHTS THE LESS KNOWN, ESSENTIAL
DISCIPLINES OF THE AMERICAN STAGE

New York, NY –The American Theatre Wing’s (Theodore S. Chapin, Chairman, Board of Directors; Howard Sherman, Executive Director) original web series, In The Wings, recently began its 2nd year of programming. Focusing on the people who are almost never in the news but who are essential to the creation of Broadway, Off Broadway and regional productions, In The Wings explores the talents and stories behind the scenes, from the costume and scenic shops to the rehearsal room to the stage itself, with designers, artisans and craftspeople explaining their unique contributions to theatrical art in their own words. These short videos shine the spotlight on disciplines you may not even realize are a part of theatrical production and celebrate the full diversity of talent that contribute to bringing a show to the stage.

To date, ATW has created more than 30 videos for the series, which are archived and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by visiting http://americantheatrewing.org/inthewings/.

The newest edition, released today, features Cast Album Producer Kurt Deutsch of Sh-K-Boom Records http://americantheatrewing.com/inthewings/detail/cast_album_producer. In it, Deutsch discusses the process and technique of planning and recording a cast album, with particular focus on the Grammy-winning recording of In the Heights and the Grammy-nominated recording of Hair.

Recent editions have featured Scenic Charge Artist Jason Edwards, Sound Engineer Carin Ford, Model Builder Steven Kemp, Shoe Designer Phil LaDuca, and Puppet Designer Emily DeCola, among others.
