THE AMERICAN THEATRE WING
LAUNCHES
DYNAMIC NEW PLATFORM FOR THE WING'S
EXCLUSIVE PROGRAMMING

COMPLETELY REDESIGNED WEBSITE
FEATURES FIVE PREMIUM CONTENT CHANNELS

New York, NY (June 2, 2014) —The American Theatre Wing (William Ivey Long, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Heather Hitchens, Executive Director) has just launched an all-new online platform for its exclusive programming.  The Wing's completely redesigned website features five premium content channels focused on highlighting the people, processes, and products that define the national theater landscape. These channels will feature new Wing content, classic Wing content, and specially curated content from an array of media partners.

American Theatre Wing Executive Director Heather A. Hitchens said, “Our goal is to have theater-lovers use our site as a hub for all things theater.  Our newly designed website and its premium content channels represent a giant leap forward in the way we curate and present The Wing's unparalleled wealth of theater-related programming.”

The new premium content channels, all easily accessible at www.americantheatrewing.org, include:

The Scene: Through interviews, Wing features, and guest contributor content, The Scene will introduce you to the people who make theater.

News and Events: From the Jonathan Larson Grants event to the Wing's Annual Gala, The Scene will keep you informed about the latest goings-on at The American Theatre Wing.

The Play That Changed My Life: This is the home of a monthly feature that asks theatre professionals and theatergoers: What's the play that changed your life?  Visitors will learn about the early theatrical inspiration of those featured, and also have the chance contribute their own thoughts on the play that changed their lives.

How It Works: Guest contributors and Wing media programming give a behind the scenes look at how theatre is created, produced, and comes to life.  Want to learn about puppetry?  Stage automation?  Lightning fast quick changes?  How It Works will lift the curtain to reveal the tantalizing industry secrets, tricks-of-the-trade, and time-tested techniques that make theatergoing such a magical experience.

Awards Central:  This is the home for everything Tony®-related.  You'll find news, video, photos, classic media from the Wing archive and more.

The American Theatre Wing (William Ivey Long, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Heather Hitchens, Executive Director) is dedicated to advancing artistic excellence and nurturing theatre’s next generation: on stage, behind the scenes, and in the audience.

For nearly a century, the Wing has pursued this mission with programs that span the nation to invest in the growth and evolution of American Theatre. Traditionally, the Wing has encouraged members of the theatre community to share their off-stage time and talent directly with the theatre audience at large–whether it was singing for the troops in the Stage Door Canteen of the 1940's, or sharing their stories on a podcast today.

As the founders of The Tony Awards®, the American Theatre Wing has developed the foremost national platform for the recognition of theatrical achievement on Broadway. Yet the Wing's reach extends beyond Broadway and beyond New York. The Wing develops the next generation of theatre professionals through the SpringboardNYC and Theatre Intern Group programs, incubates innovative theatre across the country through the National Theatre Company Grants, fosters the song of American theatre through the Jonathan Larson Grants, and illuminates the creative process through the “Working in the Theatre” program and media archive.

Visitors to americantheatrewing.org can get inspired and gain insight into the artistic process through the Wing’s extensive media collection, and learn more about its programming for students, aspiring and working professionals, and audiences.
