Arian Moayed

This week we put Tony-nominee for Best Featured Actor Arian Moayed (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) on the couch. Moayed is the Artistic Director of the New York-based company Waterwell, one of the Village Voice’s Best Arguments for Devised Theater (2010), and Director of Waterwell’s latest drop, the recently extended live concept album Goodbar, at Ideal Glass in collaboration with NYC glam-punk band, Bambï. Moayed acted in/devised eleven Waterwell drops including The Persians…, Marco Millions (based on lies) (Drama Desk nomination), The|King|Operetta, #9 and is currently developing two new musicals and his first full-length screenplay, This Island Made Me, starring Campbell Scott.

My idealism.

Q: What was your proudest moment?
Watching Krissy give birth to Olive Joon and Ivy Shireen.

Q: What is your favorite drink?
My morning shakes. Today we had pineapple, strawberry and banana with almond milk and whey protein powder. YUM.

Q: What is your favorite food?
I have to say my favorite food is Greek food. I'm also biased…but Persian food is pretty good.

Q: What is your favorite condiment?
A1 sauce. That IS the shit.

Q: What is your current obsession?
iPad 2. Bought by RW for my birthday.

Q: If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
Working too much. I work too much. I'm sending this at 12:20 AM.

Q: What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?
The day I go to the premiere of my first movie that I wrote and directed.

Q: What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
Starbucks.

Q: What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?
Facebook.

Q: What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
Facebook.

Q: What is the single best trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
Eating together as a family.

Q: What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
Lack of care of money.

Q: What in the world most thrills you?
Community building.

Q: What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?
Crappy music. Beiber and that Jessica Black girl. Have you seen her acoustic version of the song? It's appalling. And it irritates me more when people talk about how it irritates them more. OH…wait.

Q: What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?
I once made a joke with a cast member. It was a joke about how his girlfriend was dead. (It obviously wasn't funny.) And then I found out that his last girlfriend actually had died. I'm still embarrassed about that.

Q: What is your favorite place in the world?
Chicago is awesome.

Q: What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
Listening. Patience. Tons of money.

Q: Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
I prefer to be in the company of humans.

World peace.
