New York, NY (May 14, 2014) – The new Broadway play Mothers and Sons from 4-time Tony® Award winner Terrence McNally, now playing at the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), welcomes co-founder of The Tyler Clementi Foundation, Jane Clementi, who will be joined by Tony® Award winning producer Paul Boskind (The Normal Heart) for a special post-show “Talk Out” discussion following tonight's, Wednesday, May 14th, evening performance. Jane Clementi is the mother of Tyler Clementi, the Rutgers University student whose suicide opened up an international dialogue about the bullying of LGBT youth. Since Tyler’s death, the Clementi family has worked tirelessly to promote new stories of inclusion, dignity and acceptance for vulnerable youth and their families as way to honor the memory of their son, brother and friend. The discussion will begin shortly after Wednesday evening’s 7pm performance, and all audience members are welcome to participate.  Tickets for this and all performances are now on sale at www.MothersAndSonsBroadway.com.

Mothers and Sons was recently honored with 2014 Tony® Award nominations for Best Play and Actress in a Leading Role in a Play for Tyne Daly’s celebrated performance.  In addition, the play has been nominated for The Drama League Award for Outstanding Production of a Play; and Ms. Daly’s work has been nominated for top prizes at the Drama League, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards.

Mothers and Sons is proud to collaborate with The Tyler Clementi Foundation for this post-show discussion.  TCF is guided by the life and story of Tyler Clementi, promoting safe, inclusive and respectful social environments in homes, schools, campuses, churches and the digital world for vulnerable youth, LGBT youth and their allies.  Through educational partnerships, research, public dialogues and awareness programs, TCF fosters empathetic, constructive discussions of respect and dignity for youth and families, at all levels of society.  TCF envisions a world that embraces all members of society with human dignity and unconditional love regardless of sexual orientation or differences, real or perceived.  For more info, visit http://www.tylerclementi.org/.

Mothers and Sons, the new play by 4-time Tony Award® winner Terrence McNally, is a timely and provocative new play that explores our evolving understanding of family in today’s world.  At turns funny and powerful, Mothers and Sons follows a woman (Daly) who pays an unexpected visit to the New York apartment of her late son's ex-partner (Weller), who is now married to another man (Steggert) and has a young son. Challenged to face how society has changed around her, generations collide as she revisits the past and discovers a new connection she never expected.

The design team for Mothers and Sons includes scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.

Mothers and Sons had its world premiere production at Bucks County Playhouse (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) on June 13, 2013.  Tyne Daly also starred in that production.  Mr. McNally's other works for Broadway include Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune; The Full Monty; Ragtime; Master Class; Love! Valour! Compassion!; Kiss of the Spider Woman; The Rink; The Ritz; and Bad Habits.
