Capturing Our Time

Terrence McNally is the most prolific playwright in the theatre world, and his newest play, Mothers and Sons, might be his most historic piece to ever hit a Broadway stage. In this Photo of the Week, legendary photographers Joan Marcus and Sara Krulwich shoot Tyne Daly, Frederick Weller and Bobby Steggert at the Golden Theater. They stand in rapt attention as the actors tread the tumultuous waters of our contemporary society. Of course, it is a difficult task – to convey in images the nuanced, touching, and always relevant themes that come through in McNally’s words. But something tells us that this brilliant cast is providing these brilliant women with many a memorable moment on stage. Don’t miss Mothers and Sons, opening on Broadway March 24.
