New York, NY (January 10, 2011) – International sensation Siudy: Between Worlds (“Siudy: Entre Mundos”), a first-of-its-kind Flamenco fantasia, will have its Off-Broadway premiere at New World Stages’ Stage 1 theatre this spring. Created by Grammy-nominee Pablo Croce (director/producer) and the internationally celebrated Siudy (choreographer/performer), Between Worlds explores a new form of story-telling that incorporates the raw emotive power of Flamenco dancing with pulse-pounding, cross-cultural percussion. The limited engagement is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 4, with an opening night set for Sunday, March 20. Between Worlds will play its final performance on Sunday, May 22.
Between Worlds bursts through artistic and cultural boundaries, transporting us to a future where water has all but disappeared and desperate tribes war with each other and the elements for survival. Only one force is powerful enough to save humanity from itself — love. Twenty-two performers from around the globe drum and dance in a kinetic and provocative blend of Flamenco, urban dance and percussion to create a multi-sensory theatrical experience for the whole family.
In addition to Siudy, the company features Roberto Castillo, Adolfo Herrera and Joaquin Gomez “El Duende,” Analí Alcantara, Patricia Cinquemani, Claudia Gonzales, Patricia Morean, Natalia Novela, Daniela Rosi, Adriana Olivares, Samantha Zerpa, Brian Abadia, Aquiles Acosta, Celina Beach, Melissa Sadler, Thomas Hernandez, Omar Amado, Diego Alvarez, Jesus Orta, Veronica Palacios, and Maria Corina Salcedo.
Created & Directed by Pablo Croce & Siudy, the creative team includes Choreography by Siudy, Roberto Castillo, Jesús Orta and Brian Abadia, Scenic Design by Neil Patel, Sound Design by Marcelo Añez, Projection Design by Jan Hartley, Urban Costume Design by Veronica Porras & Joey Rolón, and Flamenco Costume Design by Siudy & Siudy Quintero.
