“Happy Holidays”

Ladies and gents,

It’s time for my annual last-minute holiday gift guide. Christmas is still nearly a week off, and there are a few nights of Chanukah left. But time is running out!

As someone who has been accused of being self-absorbed on more than one occasion, I always like to give gifts that prove I’ve gone out of my way for someone – proof of a little extra effort. For the Sting fan and/or musical theater lover in your life (everyone I know is both), why not an autographed copy of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of The Last Ship? Sting and his cast mates will be on stage at the Neil Simon Theatre this Sunday at 6:00 p.m. signing copies for fans. Remember to show at up 11:30 a.m. to purchase a copy and get your wrist band, granting you access to the signing.

For classical music lovers, I can think of no better gift that the first annual commemorative Brandeburg Concertos holiday ornament. Each year, an ornament will be offered fashioned as one of the instruments featured in the Brandenburg Concertos. This year is one of my all-time favorite instruments: the piccolo trumpet. It can be purchased by clicking .

For film buffs, why not passes to MoMA’s magnificent of Robert Altman retrospective? Refer to last week’s column for poetic waxing, or just click for all the info. Or, if your film buff isn’t local, purchase Altman, the new tome beautifully detailing the director’s life work. It can be purchased at your local bookstore or, if you aren’t a literary locavore, .

I always love giving and receiving Diptyque candles. It’s a one-size-fits all gift, but they have such a giant selection of fragrances you can actually make it quite personal. Go for the limited Tomas Maier collection, each inspired by one of his favorite vacation spots.

Or, best of all, pick a cause and make a donation in honor of a loved one. You’ll help the world, inspire a friend, and look oh so socially conscious in the process!

Tidbits from around town…

Spotted Jordan Roth and MSNBC hunk Louis Burgdorf chatting outside of Radio City Music Hall.

Ran into Andrew Lloyd Webber circulating through the Jujamcyn Holiday Party at Bond 45.

Overheard Taye Diggs infectious laugh at A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.

Saw Dr. Oz at Kinky Boots, but he refused to look at my shoulder injury without an office visit.

As always, a toast of something sparkling to you and yours!

Kisses,
