Every day is opening night.

Heather Hitchens

This time of year is one of the busiest for American Theatre Wing Executive Director Heather Hitchens. This past Tuesday she (along with the rest of the theater community) was up early for the much-awaited Tony® Award nomination announcement, marking the official beginning to Tony® season. The Tonys®, or more formally the Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre, were founded by the Wing in 1947 and named in honor of the organization's founder.

While the Tony® Awards remain the public face of The Wing for most of the world, Hitchens and The Wing serve the theatrical community year-round through a variety of programs designed to celebrate excellence, nurture the public's appreciation of theatre, and provide unique educational and access opportunities for both practitioners and audiences. Be sure to catch all the glitz and glamour of the Tony Awards live on Sunday, June 9th at 8pm/7pm central on CBS. Find out what her current obsession is as we get Heather On The Couch!
