If A String Quartet Plays in A NYC Hotel…

The McKittrick Hotel had an unusual air of mystery on Tuesday night. The space, with its low, red lights and its candlelit tables, had the qualities of a film noir. The hushed conversation suggested something secret and spectacular. In the visceral atmosphere of the McKittrick’s Manderly Bar, the Danish String Quartet took to the stage for a special preview of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s upcoming concert at Alice Tully Hall. Surrounded by a myriad of eager listeners from every facet of the New York culture scene, the four performers played with an otherworldly passion, paying homage to the folk music of their homeland, and connecting to audience members on a visceral level. On February 9 and 10, the Danish String Quartet will be wowing the general public, but for those at the McKittrick that mystical night – it was an experience they would not soon forget.
