BROADWAY’S
SMASH HIT COMEDY
“I T ’ S O N L Y A P L A Y”
TO HOST
BROADWAY’S BIGGEST SELFIE
IN TIMES SQUARE
ON TUESDAY, MAY 19
New York, NY (May 18, 2015) –Broadway’s smash hit comedy It’s Only a Play is planning to host Broadway’s Biggest Selfie tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19th. 2015 Tony Award ® nominee Micah Stock and members of the It’s Only a Play company will join friends, fans, members of the Broadway community, and other selfie enthusiasts in celebrating the show’s success by taking a selfie from the top of the TKTS Stairs (7th Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets) in Times Square at 1:00pm.
Participants in Broadways Biggest Selfie will be eligible for special giveaways, including being entered into a contest to win tickets to the final performance of It’s Only a Play on Sunday, June 7th.
4-time Tony Award® winner Terrence McNally’s hit comedy It’s Only A Play currently stars Oscar® winner F. Murray Abraham, 2-time Tony® winner Matthew Broderick, Tony® and Emmy® winner Stockard Channing, 2-time Tony® winner Katie Finneran, Emmy Award® nominee T.R. Knight, Tony® winner Nathan Lane, and 2015 Tony® nominee Micah Stock in his Broadway debut. 3-time Tony® Award winner Jack O’Brien directs.
In It's Only A Play, it’s opening night of Peter Austin's (Broderick) new play as he anxiously awaits to see if his show is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his big First Night with his best friend, a television star (Lane), his fledgling producer (Finneran), his erratic leading lady (Channing), his wunderkind director (Knight), an infamous drama critic (Abraham), and a fresh-off-the-bus coat check attendant (Stock) on his first night in Manhattan. It’s alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender — and proves that sometimes the biggest laughs happen offstage.
It’s Only A Play opened on Broadway on October 9, 2014, and has twice extended its run due to popular demand. It is currently scheduled through Sunday, June 7, 2015. In December 2014, it was announced that It’s Only a Play recouped its entire $3.9 million capitalization. It currently plays at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street). Tickets are now on sale for all performances.
The design team for It’s Only A Play includes scenic design by Tony® winner Scott Pask, costume design by Academy Award® and Tony® winner Ann Roth, lighting design by Philip Rosenberg, and sound design by Fitz Patton.
