James Murtaugh


This week we put the talented actor James Murtaugh on the couch. Murtaugh is a company member of TACT/The Actors Company Theatre. Having previously appeared on Broadway in Philadelphia, Here I Come! and in Lincoln Center’s 1998 Revival of Eugene O’Neill’s Ah, Wilderness!, he is currently appearing in TACT’s production of Three Men on a Horse at the Beckett Theatre (through April 23). The New York Times singled him out in the review saying his performance “wins by half a length.”

Q: What do you consider to be your best asset?
A: My speaking voice.

Q: What was your proudest moment?
A: Finishing the New York City Marathon in a very respectable time on my birthday in 1984 -The hottest day on record for the NYC Marathon.

Q: What is your favorite drink?
A: Soft drink-Diet Root Beer; Alcohol- a nice Belgian style wheat beer.

Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Rack of Lamb

A: Ketchup

A: Pool playing

Q: If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
A: Staying up late

A: To be able to sing.

A: Taxis

A: Watching TV

A: Air pollution

A: I once mistook the leading lady in a film I was in for a cleaning woman.
