Jason Tillman, executive chef of the Strand Bistro, has had experience as rich and varied as his culinary taste. Jason perfected his craft by learning from restaurant greats like Hidemase Yamamoto, David Burke and Alex Lee. His intense passion led him to numerous executive chef positions in top New York City restaurants – Farmhouse, Fishtail, and Fromagerie, just to name a few. Inspired by Japanese, French and classic American cuisine, his unique style has garnered interest with those beyond the restaurant world. He has been showcased on CBS as well as on major television shows like “Iron Chef”, “Chopped” and “Restaurant 101”. At the Strand, you can experience Jason's incredible talents for yourself. My 7 month old first son JR.

Critiquing everything I eat.

Owning my own restaurant.

RC Planes.

Another 9/11.

Italian MOM (passion & desire) German DAD (work ethic & determination).

What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?

OCD about everything I do.

The diversity in food cultures.

What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?

Social media (everyone is a food critic).

What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?

I thought I made a big mistake when filming “Iron Chef America.”

Tisjiki Fish Market in Japan.

What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?

My wife's understanding and honestly.

Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?

My dog Spidey.

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?

Have my MOM back with me (I miss you and love you Ma!!).

To be good is not enough when you dream of being great!!!
