Eight times a week, Jaygee Macapugay plays an historic icon, while simultaneously singing and dancing and hosting one of the coolest discos in NYC. Performing in the David Byrne/Fatboy Slim off-Broadway sensation, Here Lies Love, Jaygee is the fabulously controversial Imelda Marcos – the former First Lady of the Philippines. Before her star turn, she performed in productions of Miss Saigon, The King & I and Hello Dolly! for the National Asian Artist Project. What is your favorite food?
Authentic Chicago deep dish pizza and authentic Chicago style hot dogs. Can you guess my hometown?

Apple Cider Vinegar.
What is your current obsession?
Watching “How To Get Away With Murder”, featuring Here Lies Love's Conrad Ricamora. He's fantastic in the show, and I'm so proud of him.
If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
SUGAR SUGAR SUGAR…. Sugar is so bad, but sooooo good….
What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?
Broadway. It's my dream to perform on Broadway in a show that is perfect for me.
What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
Eating out. I spend money on food like it's my last meal…. every time. It's a problem, but I eat very well 
What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?
Binge watching on Netflix. This past weekend was classic Eddie Murphy movies: Beverly Hills Cop, Boomerang, and Coming to America.
What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
Negative energy.
What is the single best trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
Do what makes you happy.
What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
A fear of swimming. My mom has always had this fear of me drowning.
What in the world most thrills you?
Opening night for any show I'm doing. Nothing like that energy!
What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?
Kim Kardashian's butt.
What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?
Slipping down the stairs during a pivotal moment during Here Lies Love. I fell down Beyoncé-style! But like Bey, I got up, flicked my hair, and kept going!
What is your favorite place in the world?
My Brooklyn apartment.
What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
Support and freedom. My boyfriend David supports me unconditionally, but we both give each other the freedom we need to pursue our dreams & goals.
Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
Don't make me choose!
What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?
