Jonathan Gould debuts on Broadway as Ned in School of Rock: The Musical, and the Winter Garden Theatre is all the more righteous for it! Mr. Gould is a singer-songwriter and multiinstrumentalist, with a one-of-a-kind voice that can be heard in “Scaredy Squirel” on Netflix as well as other series on Cartoon Network, Teletoon and Nickelodeon. His theatre credits include several seasons with the Shaw Festival, Stratford Festival, Soulpepper Theatre, Citadel Theatre, The Grand, and the Belfry Theatre. We are thrilled to have this young talent On the Couch!

What do you consider to be your best asset?

My Canadian passport. But really my family. Ok, both.

What was your proudest moment?

I feel that’s yet to come. Not so much of an answer here…eh?

What is your favorite drink?

Sparkling lime soda water. Kinda boring and specific, but true!

What is your favorite food?

Mashed potatoes. Hot or warm, creamy, garlicky. All good.

What is your favorite condiment?

Soy sauce! Soya sauce? Tomato, Tomatoe.

What is your current obsession?

My little rescued cat, Sauly. Always by my side. I’d bring him to work If I could.

If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?

Vices Schmices! Life is short! Health and happiness in tow of course.

What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?

I’m always surprised with the twist and turns in my career. So I stick with this element of surprise.

What is the one thing you waste too much money on?

Maybe wasting is too harsh a term here, but I definitely splurge at the Whole Foods in my neighborhood, often.

What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?

Eating at that Whole Foods salad bar in my neighborhood.

What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?

NYC taxi cabs. I walk to work every day, and I’m a pretty aggressive walker, you see.

What is the single best trait you inherited or learned from your parents?

Unconditional love.

What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?

Mom, Dad? Will you be reading this?

What in the world most thrills you?

Hearing a song I really, really like, for the 2nd time.

What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?

Tweeting.

What was the single most embarrassing moment you’ve ever experienced on the job?

I was scooping ice cream in the summer as a teenager and the first day on the job, the boss came back and found me lounging on the counter top in between scoops. It was a slow day. I lasted the summer though.

What is your favorite place in the world?

Any ocean, anywhere.

What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?

A deep love and compassion for all animals.

Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?

I love both. All at once.

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?

Whoah. I just had a pretty existential moment here.

What is your personal motto?

“I’ve done it before and I can and will do it again.”
