Broadway rocker Justin Matthew Sargent swung into the Foxwoods Theatre on September 16, 2013 to take over the titular role of nerd-turnedsuperhero Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Broadway’s high-flying SPIDERMAN Turn Off The Dark. Sargent comes to SPIDER-MAN after an acclaimed run as rocker Drew Boley in Rock of Ages, another long-running Broadway musical. What do you consider to be your best asset?
My smile! I smile all the time, and I never feel disingenuous when I do.
What was your proudest moment?
Hard to say. I used to weigh 240 lbs, so my proudest achievement is losing the weight!
What is your favorite drink?
I'm a water and coffee guy, but if we're talking adult bevy, Stella Artoise.
What is your favorite food?
I'm a sucker for Mexican food, and cookies (obviously not together).
What is your favorite condiment?
Hot sauce! Give me the burn!!
What is your current obsession?
The gym! Nothing feels better than getting stronger and seeing the results.
If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
I could never have a drink again and be totally fine with it.
What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?
Diversity! I want to do it all and I never want to feel complacent, or bored with my career.
What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
Food. I spend way too much in food. It's easy to do in this city.

What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?
Watching TV… I love it, and I feel like I need to do it to keep up with this industry, but there's SO MUCH to watch!
What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
Laziness. Finding motivation is hard, but going to the gym is a MUST!

My positive outlook on life.

My love of food!

Live music of just about any kind!
What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?
The variety of social media and online publications seem to be a breeding ground for unwarranted hatred and toxic behavior. I love twitter, Facebook, and the like, but people using these outlets to spew poison really get me down. I'm all for personal opinion, but let's be civil!
What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?
I may have accidentally chucked a broom across the stage and shattered a neon sign during the opening number of a certain 80's rock musical, showering the stage in glass… Never slipped out of my hands in 500+ performances!! I'll never dance with a broom again.

Home 
What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
I've never had a type. I've always looked for an inherent goodness, and a bright smile.
Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
Dogs! I have a husky named Kenobi. He is amazing.
What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?
To have all my family and friends in the same place at the same time.

Be good to all and to yourself.
