Karine Plantadit

Born in France and raised in Cameroon, Karine Plantadit moved to Cannes to study dance at age 14. The talented dancer and actress subsequently moved to New York City to study dance with Alvin Ailey for 7 years before making her Broadway debut in the original cast of The Lion King. She has since appeared in Movin' Out, Saturday Night Fever, and was nominated for a Tony for her role as Kate in Come Fly Away. Find out what thrills Karine most as we get her On The Couch!

What do you consider to be your best asset?

My love of life and the true belief that we can always create magical things.

What was your proudest moment?

2 most recent ones: 1) Facing the murderer of my dad and courageously choosing to pass in his cell a book on Buddhism which hi-lighted the sacredness of all Lives and the choice to honor life. 2) Being chosen to be in this cast

Ooh … And to be nominated for a Tony Award as an actress ( though I never really spoke verbally) 

What is your favorite drink?

Appleshauler (?): fizzy water with apple juice

Anything made with love and joy without meat

Cream of balsamic vinegar

A man!!!!

If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?

Men

What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?

Making dance movies at the caliber of a feature films … But just dancing.

What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?

Love of life and understanding that there is a cause and effect to everything.I have a jaguar … I care for my jaguar and I will honor my jaguar. (lol)

My love of traveling and being with different kind of people.

What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?

Impatience

What in the world most thrills you?

The possibility of creating Peace where there was none.

What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?

The disconnect between people and the default choice to stay divided or act alone.

What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?

Laughing badly on stage to the point of not being able to execute the choreography.

What is your favorite place in the world?

My home in the south of France

What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?

Reciprocity and truth and the choice to dialogue and work things through.

Love them all

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?

1)That the whole world choose to abolish nuclear weapons and chose to DROP ANY WAR ACTIVITIES right at this moment. 2) To see Warren Carlyle being rewarded ( beyond imagination ) for his incredible generosity and talents as a director and choreographer.
