COMPLETE CAST BEGINS OFF BROADWAY

New York, NY (12/21/2011) – Producer Daryl Roth announced today that author and lifestyle expert Katie Lee and fashion industry titan Fern Mallis will both make their Off Broadway debuts in the January cast of the Off Broadway hit Love, Loss, and What I Wore, rounding out a cast that includes Obie Award-winner Veanne Cox, Emmy Award-winner Nancy Dussault and Tony Award-winner Lillias White, beginning January 4 through January 29, 2012.
As previously announced, the current NYC cast, which includes Emily Dorsch (Lincoln Center’s In The Next Room), Tony Award-winner Daisy Eagan (The Secret Garden), Sonia Manzano (Maria on “Sesame Street”), Loretta Swit (Hot Lips Houlihan on “MASH”) and Myra Lucretia Taylor (Broadway’s Nine) performs Off Broadway through December 30 and then heads out to launch the show’s first national tour, which begins in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 3, 2012. The tour also includes stops in Tampa, Florida; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Detroit, Michigan.
Written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, opened in October 2009 at the Westside Theatre (407 W 43rd Street), where it’s broken all box office records and is now in its third smash year. Based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman as well as on the recollections of the Ephrons’ friends, and directed by Karen Carpenter, this collection of stories dares to ask “Can’t we all just stop pretending anything is ever going to be the new black?” Love, Loss, and What I Wore opens the closet on this and other sartorial queries by using clothes as a metaphor for matters far deeper than the average walk-in closet. |
The production, which was honored with a 2010 Drama Desk Award and a Broadway.com Audience Award, is performed by a rotating cast of five all-star actors, who perform in five-week cycles. Members of the rotating cast have included La La Anthony, Samantha Bee, Alexis Bledel, Kristin Chenoweth, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Tyne Daly, Fran Drescher, Janeane Garofalo, Melissa Joan Hart, Carol Kane, Minka Kelly, Stacy London, Jane Lynch, Natasha Lyonne, AnnaLynne McCord, Anne Meara, Rosie O’Donnell, Rhea Perlman, Eve Plumb, Caroline Rhea, Doris Roberts, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sherri Shepherd, Brooke Shields, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Cobie Smulders, Rita Wilson and many more.
In addition to its New York production and its upcoming tour, Love, Loss, and What I Wore is currently playing at the Broadway Playhouse in Chicago (through December 31, 2011). Since the show opened Off Broadway two years ago, it has played on six continents (North America, South America, Asia, Australia, Africa and Europe), in places including: Cape Town, South Africa; The Philippines; Paris, France (where popular demand has been so great that it’s returning in January 2012); Sydney Australia; Toronto, Canada and many more. Los Angeles’ Geffen Theatre hosted a hit run in 2010 that broke all box office records and featured actresses including Meredith Baxter, Jamie Gertz, Florence Henderson, Christine Lahti, Mimi Rogers and Nancy Travis.
The performance schedule for Love, Loss, and What I Wore is currently as follows: Tuesday at 7 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday at 2 p.m. & 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m. (no performances on 12/24, 12/25, 12/31, 1/1; additional performances on 12/19 and 12/26 at 7 p.m.) Starting in January 2012, the Tuesday at 7 p.m. performance will be replaced by a Sunday at 7 p.m. performance. Katie Lee is an author and the food and lifestyle contributor for the “CBS Early Show.” Katie shares recipes and entertaining tips in her bestselling The Comfort Table cookbook series, and in June 2011, she released her first work of fiction Groundswell, a glamorous novel that follows a young woman as she finds the healing power of surfing in an idyllic Mexican beach town. Katie is thrilled to be making her Off Broadway debut in Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
Fern Mallis. Widely credited as the creator of New York Fashion Week, Fern Mallis is a fashion industry titan. Her television credits include “Project Runway,” “America’s Next Top Model,” and “The Fashion Show.” She hosts the 92Y series “Fashion Icons w/Fern Mallis,” w/guests such as Calvin Klein & Norma Kamali. 2012 guests will include Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Tom Ford, & Michael Kors. She has a monthly fashion industry talk show on Sirius XM's STARS channel. Fern is thrilled to be making her stage debut in Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
