Lauren Klein

When it comes to best plays of the year, Lauren Klein knows how to pick ’em. A veteran actress of the stage and screen, big and small, Lauren has appeared on Broadway in Other Desert Cities and Broken Glass and Off Broadway in After The Fall. Her performance in the regional productions of Big Love and Denial earned her two Best Actress Awards. This season, she plays Fiona “Momo” Blake in Stephen Karam’s much acclaimed new play The Humans. What do you consider to be your best asset?
Physical – My blue eyes, Other – Ability to endure.

What was your proudest moment?
Realizing that thirty odd years in show business has led to financial and emotional ability to not have to look for work, but only take what interests me.

What is your favorite drink?
A good bourbon.

What is your favorite food?
Roast cashews and other beautiful nuts.

What is your favorite condiment?
Mustard seed.

What is your current obsession?
Finding the perfect home to live in and never have to move from, that has everything I want and need.

If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
Snacking late at night.

What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?
Never having to go to an audition again, only to be invited to join a project of interest.

What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
I can’t resist a really great Thrift Shop find.

What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?
Looking at dog stuff on Facebook.

What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
My love of cheese.

What is the single best trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
Resilient genes.

What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
The love of heavy cream.

What in the world most thrills you?
Really ancient forests.

What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?
Politics being conducted like a game.

What was the single most embarrassing moment you’ve ever experienced on the job?
Being required to “moon” the audience along with the rest of the cast in Charles Mee’s Wintertime.

What is your favorite place in the world?
Possibly the Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.

What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
A healthy sense of humor.

Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
Love them both, for different reasons.

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?
The entire human population would wake up and be forever kind to all living beings.

What is your personal motto?
