THEATRE COMMUNICATIONS GROUP ANNOUNCES PERFORMERS FOR 2023 GALA: OUR STORIES
TO HONOR SAMUEL L. JACKSON AND LATANYA RICHARDSON JACKSON

ENTERTAINMENT WILL FEATURE PERFORMANCES FROM
TONY AWARD NOMINEE SIDNEY DUPONT, GRAMMY AWARD NOMINEE ALEX NEWELL, AND TONY AWARD WINNER LILLIAS WHITE

New York, NYTheatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the performers for the 2023 TCG Gala: Our Stories, which will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023, at The Edison Ballroom, 240 W 47th St, New York, NY 10036. The Gala will feature performances from Sidney DuPont (Tony Nominee, Paradise Square), Alex Newell (Shucked), and Lillias White (Hadestown). The Gala will honor Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson and the Gala Co-Chairs are esteemed Broadway producer Brian Anthony Moreland and renowned publicist Rick Miramontez.

“We’re so grateful to welcome the dazzling talents of Sidney, Alex, and Lillias to our 2023 Gala stage,” said Teresa Eyring, executive director and CEO, TCG. “Their performances will no doubt help us honor the extraordinary talent and generosity of our honorees, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Samuel L. Jackson. The Gala will also be an opportunity to lift up TCG Books’ One Million Books Campaign, ensuring readers across the country will have access to TCG Books’ extensive library of titles.”

Sidney DuPont will kick off the evening with an uplifting song. Then, Lillias White and pianist Mathis Picard will perform a mini-set from their upcoming Sarah Vaughan tribute album. Alex Newell will close out the performances for the evening with a song accompanied by Dionne “DJ” Hendricks. A 6:00pm cocktail reception will be followed by a 7:00pm seated dinner, with entertainment beginning at 7:20pm. The Gala will also celebrate TCG’s One Million Books Campaign. TCG’s One Million Books Campaign will make one million TCG plays available to schools, university and public libraries, independent bookstores, and more. TCG Books is the largest independent trade publisher of dramatic literature in North America, with 19 winners of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama on its book list. The book program commits to the life-long career of its playwrights, keeping all of their plays in print.
