Matthew Hydzik
Performing beside two conjoined powerhouses like Erin Davie and Emily Padgett is no easy feat, but Matthew Hydzik complements his leading ladies beautifully as the determined and energetic Buddy Foster in Broadway’s reimagining of Side Show. What was your proudest moment?
Riding the R train to my first Broadway rehearsal. I actually was a sobbing mess on the train that morning because, for the first time, I wasn't on my way to a soul crushing survival job. That felt like my proudest moment.
What is your favorite drink?
It's an Irish Whiskey called Red Breast.
What is your favorite food?
Right now I'm on a huge Thai kick.
What is your favorite condiment?
Chipotle Tabasco sauce.
What is your current obsession?
A comic book called Saga.
If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
Procrastination.
What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?
Originating a role. That or publishing a song.
What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
Bars.
What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?
Procrastinating online.
What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
New York traffic.
What is the single best trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
My work ethic.
What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
Being horrible at arguing.
What in the world most thrills you?
Singing and playing music.
What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?
Anything reality show based.
What is your favorite place in the world?
There's a special little beach hut in Negril, Jamaica. I go there in my mind all the time.
What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
Compassion.
Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
Both!
What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?
If I could have an evening of dinner and drinks with my entire family, and my grandparents when they were my age.

Good work begets more work.
