New York, NY – (11/03/10) Producers Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian and Tom Wirtshafter, who presented the critically acclaimed landmark production of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, present the New York premiere of the new comedy, Mistakes Were Made, by Craig Wright with direction by Dexter Bullard. The two-character play features Academy Award-nominee Michael Shannon as producer Felix Artifex and Mierka Girten as his assistant Esther, and reunites the creative team of the Off-Broadway smash hit Bug (Bullard, Shannon and Barrow Street). The 16-week limited engagement begins performances Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Barrow Street Theatre. Opening night is Sunday evening, November 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

Mistakes Were Made is an hilarious, but also deeply moving character study of a man seeking redemption, but inescapably creating destruction. Felix Artifex, a B-list Off-Broadway producer, gets in way over his fast-talking head when he takes on a gargantuan epic about the French Revolution which he thinks is going to be his ticket to professional and personal reclamation. While trying to land a big star for the lead role, he uses all his powers of persuasion, seduction and intimidation to strong-arm the writer into massively rewriting his play. At the same time, he attempts to reconnect with his estranged wife and untangle himself from a mess involving sheep in a distant war-torn country.

The creative team includes Tom Burch (sets), Tif Bullard (costumes), Keith Parham (lights), Joe Fosco (sound), Michele Spadaro (props), Nan Zabriskie (makeup) and Sam Deutsch (puppeteer). The Production Stage Manager is Richard A. Hodge.

The performance schedule for Mistakes Were Made is as follows: Tuesday – Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with special added performances on Sunday, November 7 and December 5 at 7:30 p.m. Please note: there is no matinee on Sunday, November 14 and no performance on Thanksgiving Day, November 25.

Single tickets are priced at $45 for preview performances (November 5-13) and $65 for regular performances (beginning November 16). Tickets are available through SmartTix (212) 868-4444, www.smarttix.com, or at the Barrow Street Theatre box office (open at 1 p.m. daily). Student tickets at $20 are available on the day of performance only at the box office.
