New York, NY (September 14, 2020) – Today, Andrew Lloyd Webber unveiled a new song from his upcoming new musical comedy Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella. Webber and Fletcher recently recorded the moving ballad on stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London, home of The Phantom of the Opera which has been shuttered since March due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In the video, Webber dedicates the song, “to the governments of the various countries to say that we are getting to the point where it is ‘far too late.’ We want to get back to the theater again, we want to be open.”
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella features a book by Emmy Award® nominee Emerald Fennell, based on her original idea to completely reinvent the world’s best-loved fairytale. The world premiere musical features a new score from the legendary composer and lyrics by Tony Award® winner David Zippel. Cinderella will be directed by Laurence Connor, with choreography from JoAnn M. Hunter, who previously partnered on the international smash hit School of Rock.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella will begin preview performances at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End on Friday, March 19, 2021 ahead of an official opening night on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
In addition to Fletcher in the title role, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella will also star Olivier Award® nominee Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as the Stepmother.
