AS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


New York, NYNew York Stage and Film (Johanna Pfaelzer, Artistic Director; Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, Leslie Urdang, Producing Directors) has announced that respected theatrical literary agent Thomas Pearson has joined the company as Executive Director, effective immediately.

”We are delighted to welcome Thomas to New York Stage and Film,” said Artistic Director Johanna Pfaelzer.  “He is a great advocate for artists and deeply understands and believes in the particular way that NYSAF is poised to serve the development of new works.  I look forward to working with him tremendously.”

For the last seven years, Thomas Pearson has been a theatrical literary agent at International Creative Management (ICM), where he represented a wide variety of artists in theater, dance, opera, and other live performance; his clients also work in film, television, and new media platforms.  Select clients and projects have included Tarell Alvin McCraney and his landmark trilogy The Brother/Sister Plays; Michael Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson); Bob Glaudini (Jack Goes Boating); Lisa Peterson (An Iliad); Stephen Belber; Tina Landau; Jose Rivera; Charles L. Mee; and many others.  Prior to ICM, he was the associate managing director of New York Theatre Workshop, where he general managed the production and development of new work by artists such as Tony Kushner, Martha Clarke, Caryl Churchill, Ivo van Hove, Will Power, and Paul Rudnick. As a board member and advisor, he has worked with Les Freres Corbusier and Theater Mitu.  He holds BA degrees in Theater Studies and Literature from Yale University, and is originally from the Central Coast of California.

New York Stage and Film is the not-for-profit company dedicated to both emerging and established artists in the development of new works for theater and film.  Since 1985 New York Stage and Film has played a significant role in the development of new plays, provided a home for a diverse group of artists free from critical and commercial pressures and established itself as a vital cultural institution for residents of the Hudson Valley and the New York metropolitan region.  The company recently completed the 27th Powerhouse Summer season, its annual collaboration with Vassar College, within which NYSAF has developed and premiered numerous plays including the Tony Award winning Tru, Sideman, and the Tony and Pulitzer award-winning Doubt.
