OPENING NIGHT SET FOR MONDAY, APRIL 2

New York, NY – Preview performances of the Broadway premiere of End of the Rainbow, the acclaimed new play with music by Peter Quilter, begin tonight, Monday, March 19, at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre.  Two-time Olivier Award-winner Tracie Bennett stars as Judy Garland, leading a cast that features Michael Cumpsty, Tom Pelphrey and Jay Russell. Directed by Tony® Award winner Terry Johnson, End of the Rainbow officially opens on Monday, April 2.

The setting is December 1968, and Judy Garland is about to make her comeback… again. In a London hotel room preparing for a series of concerts, with both her new young fiancé and her adoring accompanist, Garland struggles to get “beyond the rainbow” with her signature cocktail of talent, tenacity, and razor-sharp wit.  This savagely funny drama offers unique insight into the inner conflict that inspired and consumed one of the most beloved figures in American popular culture. End of the Rainbow features some of Garland’s most memorable songs, performed with the show-stopping gusto for which she will always be remembered.

The creative team of End of the Rainbow includes William Dudley (Scenic & Costume Design), Christopher Akerlind (Lighting Design), Gareth Owen (Sound Design), Chris Egan (Orchestrations), Gareth Valentine (Musical Arrangements), and Jeffrey Saver (Music Direction).

Tickets, ranging from $31.50 to $121.50, are available via telecharge.com, by calling (212) 239-6200, or in person at the Belasco Theatre Box Office (111 West 44th Street).  A limited number of general rush tickets will be sold for each performance, on the day of the show only, when the box office opens (Monday-Saturday at 10:00 a.m.; Sunday at 12:00 p.m.).  Rush tickets are priced at $31.50 and can be purchased by cash or charge at the box office. On 2-show days, rush tickets for both shows will be sold at the time of the box office opening.  Seat locations for rush tickets will be at the theatre's discretion. Each patron in line may purchase a maximum of two (2) rush tickets.

End of the Rainbow currently plays the following performance schedule: Monday-Saturday at 8:00 p.m., with 2:00 p.m. matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.  Beginning April 9, the schedule will change to Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Thursday at 7:00 p.m., Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

End of the Rainbow is produced on Broadway by Lee Dean, Laurence Myers, Joey Parnes, Ellis Goodman, Shadowcatcher Entertainment/Alhadeff Productions, National Angels U.S. Inc., Charles Diamond/Jenny Topper, Myla Lerner/Andrew Bryan, Spring Sirkin/Candy Gold,  Hilary Williams, and S.D. “There are moments in the theatre when you lean forward in your seat with shivers racing down the spine, and realize there is nowhere on God’s earth you’d rather be.
End of the Rainbow is one such occasion.”
