Russell Harvard

Russell Harvard is a versatile young, deaf actor who is most widely known for his role as Daniel Day Lewis’ adult son, H.W., in There Will Be Blood. He is currently starring as Billy in the Off-Broadway smash hit (and this year’s Drama Desk Award Winner for Best New Play), Tribes, which opened to rave reviews on March 4, 2012 and runs through January 6, 2013 at the Barrow Street Theatre. Q: What do you consider to be your best asset?
The great deal of being patient, non-judgmental and understanding.

Q: What was your proudest moment?
Being one of the recipients of the Theatre World Awards.

Q: What is your favorite drink?
Pomegranate blueberry ice blended at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

Q: What is your favorite food?
Mexican. No doubt I was Mexican in another life.

Q: What is your favorite condiment?
Brad’s Organic Ketchup.

Q: What is your current obsession?
Working out at the gym and catching up on nearly all seasons of “Supernatural” on Netflix.

Q: If you could give up one of your vices, what would it be?
Making and eating chile con queso with chips. The recipe is unhealthy but sinfully tasteful.

Q: What is the one professional accomplishment you long for most?
Collaborating, directing and performing in a revival of a musical I have in mind and integrating it with American Sign Language.

Q: What is the one thing you waste too much money on?
Alcoholic beverages and shoes.

Q: What is the one activity you waste too much time doing?
Staying up all night and sleeping all day.

Q: What do you consider to be the single greatest threat to your health?
Lifting too much weight than I can handle. I will not get a third hernia.

Q: What is the single best trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
My mom taught me the knowledge of Spiritualism and I got my dad’s humbleness and humor.

Q: What is the single worst trait you inherited or learned from your parents?
My dad’s eating habit and my mom’s OCD.

Q: What in the world most thrills you?
Riding roller coasters and cliff jumping into rivers or lakes.

Q: What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?
I don’t waste my energy being irritated by current trends. However I can say people who are ignorant and judgmental irritate me.

Q: What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?
Abruptly jumping a line and saying the wrong line the play with Susan Poufar. I was lucky to have Susan cover up so smoothly when she saw my face all pale and sweaty.

Q: What is your favorite place in the world?
Playa Del Carmen and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.

Q: What is the most important trait you seek in a romantic partner?
Funny, kind, communicative and open minded.

Q: Do you prefer the company of dogs or cats?
WOOF! I like cats but I dislike the love bites they give me.

Q: What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?
Getting a gig on a TV show or at least a recurring role on “Supernatural”, “Breaking Bad” or “Being Human”. Those TV shows are currently my favorite.
