SAG FOUNDATION
CONVERSATIONS PROGRAM
CELEBRATES ACTORS IN NEW YORK THEATRE
WITH “LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE”

New York, NY (3/4/2011) – The Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s successful Conversations program will, for the first time, honor actors working in New York City theatre with the Tuesday, March 8 performance (7:00 pm) of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron’s smash hit show Love, Loss, and What I Wore.

The special event will feature a performance of Love, Loss, and What I Wore, followed by a post-show Q&A with the current cast, which includes actors from all mediums: TV regulars Katrina Bowden (“30 Rock”) and Sabrina Le Beauf (“The Cosby Show”), Broadway star Orfeh (Legally Blonde), stage and screen’s Barbara Rhoades (The Goodbye Girl) and soap opera veteran Kim Zimmer (“One Life To Live”). While the special performance is open to the public, the post-performance discussion, moderated by Love, Loss, and What I Wore alumna Nancy Giles (“CBS Sunday Morning”), is open to SAG members only.

Since its first Conversations event in 2001, the SAG Foundation’s national speaker series has invited well-known, working actors to share their industry experiences and career knowledge with audiences of fellow actors. Conversations also offers screenings of films and television shows followed by question and answer sessions with members of the cast, directors, writers and producers. Past speakers include: Nicole Kidman, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Duvall, James Garner, Kirk Douglas, Forest Whitaker, Laura Linney, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Shirley MacLaine and many more. Past screenings / Q&As include: The King's Speech, The Social Network, Winter's Bone, Avatar, Precious, Crazy Heart, “Parenthood,” “House,” “The Office,” “Glee” among many others. The non-profit SAG Foundation relies on support from grants and donations to maintain its operations, utilizing no portion of Guild member dues or fees to fund programs designed to assist, educate and inspire actors in career, life and community.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore, presented by Daryl Roth, opened in October 2009 at the Westside Theatre (407 W 43rd Street), where it quickly broke all box office records. Directed by Karen Carpenter, this collection of stories is based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, as well as on the recollections of the Ephrons’ friends. Like the popular book, Love, Loss, and What I Wore uses clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories that all women can relate to.

The production, which was honored with a 2010 Drama Desk Award and a Broadway.com Audience Award, is performed by a rotating cast of five all-star actors, who perform in five-week cycles. Members of the rotating cast have included Samantha Bee, Alexis Bledel, Kristin Chenoweth, Tyne Daly, Fran Drescher, Janeane Garofalo, Melissa Joan Hart, Carol Kane, Stacy London, Jane Lynch, Natasha Lyonne, Rosie O’Donnell, Rhea Perlman, Caroline Rhea, Doris Roberts, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sherri Shepherd, Brooke Shields, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Cobie Smulders, Rita Wilson and many more.
