Siobhan Dillon

Siobhan Dillon

Siobhan Dillon, who’s already a name with West End-goers, is about to capture the hearts and minds of a Broadway audience. This season, Siobhan is making her Broadway debut as writer Betty Schaeffer in Sunset Boulevard, one of the classics of the Andrew Lloyd Webber canon. Her career has taken her to Rydell High in the West End productions of Grease, Vietnam in Miss Saigon, and Harvard Law in Legally Blonde. We are thrilled to see Siobhan Dillon bring down the New York houses, and over-the-moon that she’s On the Couch!

The power of people. At this time and throughout history, I am always inspired by the strength of people fighting for the greater good. It always restores my faith in humanity.

What current trend in popular culture most irritates you?

Too much make up! Is it me or are people now painting faces onto their own faces rather than using make up to enhance their natural features!?

What was the single most embarrassing moment you’ve ever experienced on the job?

I was in an audition about 10 years ago now. I was new to the industry but that’s no excuse. Having been asked to prepare a monologue which I rehearsed to within an inch of its life, when I came to perform it I blanked. Fine- lots of people do this under pressure right? But instead of restarting I continued to completely make it up. I finished the piece and one of the people on the panel looked up over his glasses and said (knowingly), “Right. Well, that was an interesting choice Siobhan. Thank you for coming in. We’ll be in touch…” I thought I’d got away with it. I was about to leave when another member of the panel said, “No, no, you know what, it was a great piece. I’d like to hear it again!”

I had 2 options at this point—panic plastered across my face—I could come clean or attempt a rerun. I started to explain that I had maybe forgotten some parts of the monologue but before I could continue, the casting director got up and said, smiling, “It’s alright Siobhan, thank you for your time.” And ushered me out of the room. Still don’t know why I didn’t get a call back!

My family has a beautiful home in Montpellier, France. It’s bliss—peaceful and full of character.

He has to have a clever sense of humor.

Dogs! I have a beautiful little Maltese named Daphne.

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?

I honestly believe if we really knew the answer to that question we’d have worked out one of the biggest mysteries of the human psyche. All I know is that I am grateful for everything and everyone in my life and every moment that I am healthy and happy.

What is your personal motto?

Enjoy the journey x
