New York, NY SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, Broadway’s record breaking new show, today announced that its new app, which was first made available to the public on Wednesday, January 18th, has now been downloaded over 50,000 times!  The most recent addition was a new, interactive component in celebration of Valentine’s Day.  Fans can now customize a Spider-Man themed photocard by taking a picture of themselves or a friend with their phone and inserting the photo into a pre-selected, Spidey-themed frame.  In addition, there are four standard (non-customized) Spider-Man Valentine’s Day cards available.

The SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark app is free and available for Apple and Android devices, and gives users earliest access to exclusive video content and special offers, music and photos from the show, and easy ticket purchase. Those with the app can integrate their social media accounts and engage with a ‘fan wall’ where users can post comments and photos in real time for all to see.  Additionally, people can compete to be among the top users of the app in order to unlock special rewards.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark has been seen by more than 800,000 audience members from around the world.  It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), original direction by Julie Taymor, and book co-written by Taymor, Glen Berger (Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, “Big Love”). The show currently stars Reeve Carney as “Peter Parker/Spider-Man,” Patrick Page as “Norman Osborn/Green Goblin,” Rebecca Faulkenberry as “Mary Jane Watson,” and Christina Sajous as “Arachne.”

Inspired by nearly 50 years of Marvel comic books, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down when he's bitten by a genetically altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to his bedroom ceiling. This bullied science-geek suddenly endowed with incredible powers soon learns, however, that with great power comes great responsibility as villains put both his physical strength and strength of character to the test.
