New York, NY – In the midst of its smash-hit, sensation-causing run of Absinthe at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Spiegelworld plans its eagerly awaited East Coast return with a 15-week, summertime engagement in New York. Reinventing the traditions of circus, cabaret, variety and burlesque for the 21st century audience, Spiegelworld will bring its all new show, entitled Empire, to the heart of Broadway, pitching its infamous tent at 265 West 45th Street. Preview performances will begin on May 22, 2012, with an official opening night set for May 31, 2012. Tickets go on sale today for the limited engagement, which will play through September 2, 2012. Empire will be presented in New York by Related Companies and Boston Properties.
“New Yorkers are the most demanding audiences in the world, and so we have had no choice but to deliver a show that represents the very height of the art,” said Ross Mollison, Spiegelworld Impresario. “We’ve scoured the planet to find the most awe-inspiring acts ever performed, and assembled them together on one stage, creating the greatest show New York has ever known.”
Empire will be headlined by some of the finest artists ever to trod the Big Top boards, featuring such international legends as Moondog, Carrot Man, Polka Dot Woman, Rubbish Bag Lady, Lime Green Lady, and many, many, many more!
Spiegelworld came to life in New York City in the summer of 2006. At its core is a unique venue; a heritage 440-seat Belgian spiegeltent. Popular across Europe during the early 20th century, the luxurious traveling spiegeltents were used as dance halls and music/cabaret venues, featuring intimate in-the-round seating, ornate wooden panelling, mirrors, stained-glass windows, and velvet-upholstered seating booths.
Spiegelworld also features a carnival-style bar facility and a speakeasy VIP lounge. Since 2006, Spiegelworld has presented an annual summer season in New York City on Pier 17, South Street Seaport. Spiegelworld has produced a range of acclaimed shows within the spiegeltent, including Absinthe, La Vie, Late Night Lounge and Desir. Spiegelworld has also toured to Miami South Beach and Melbourne where they were the feature entertainment of the 2009 Australian Open tennis grand slam.

The performance schedule is as follows: Monday at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday – Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
