FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PLEASE

TACT/THE ACTORS COMPANY THEATRE
TO CELEBRATE 2011/12 SEASON
AND HONOR
VICTOR GARBER
AT
2012 SPRING GALA

MONDAY, MAY 7TH
THE LOEB BOATHOUSE CENTRAL PARK

New York, NY (4/18/12) – TACT/The Actors Company Theatre will celebrate the success of its critically-acclaimed 2011/12 season and honor the accomplishments of Victor Garber – one of this country’s most versatile actors, at its annual Spring Gala on Monday, May 7th at The Loeb Boathouse Central Park (East 72nd Street & Park Drive North).  The celebratory evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and the new “Pick-a-Prize” Raffle where attendees can select which prizes they want to win. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m.  TACT company member Simon Jones will serve as master of ceremonies and introduce the evening’s entertainment and live auction – which includes VIP tickets to the 2013 Australian Open and tickets to the 2013 Olivier Awards in London – set to commence at 8:30 p.m.

This year’s honoree, the prodigiously gifted Victor Garber, was already a show business veteran when he made an indelible mark as Jesus in the 1973 film version of Godspell at the advance age of twenty-one.  Since those days of the 1970s, his singular gifts have made him a bona-fide star of Broadway musicals, the legitimate stage, television, and film.  His easy grace, natural wit, and intelligence have informed every role he has inhabited from Shaw to Sondheim, from hero to villain, from innocent youth to cynical spy, and we have believed him in every incarnation.  His performances have garnered him multiple Tony and Emmy nominations, and his friends and admirers are legion.

During the gala celebration, TACT will bestow upon Mr. Garber the coveted “Order of the TACT Empire” (OTE), knighting him “Sir Victor” where he will join the distinguished company of Dames Julie Harris, Angela Lansbury, Sir Sam Waterston and Dame Anne Meara & Sir Jerry Stiller. There will be an original musical tribute, lovingly and enthusiastically performed by members of the company and special surprise guests. Gillian Berkowitz will serve as the evening’s musical director.  Co-Artistic Director Scott Alan Evans will direct the evening.

Tickets for the gala evening are $400. To purchase tickets for the gala, please contact TACT at (212) 645-8228 or info@tactnyc.org.

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre (Scott Alan Evans, Cynthia Harris & Jenn Thompson – Co-Artistic Directors) is dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit, with a focus on creating theatre from its essence: the text and the actor's ability to bring it to life.  This season, the company presented sold out productions of A. R. Gurney’s Children and Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers.

TACT’s celebrated company of actors was drawn together in 1992 by a love of the literature of the theatre.  Since that time, they have grown to become a true ensemble: a group that has developed a common vocabulary and a technique based on their specific artistic vision and collective body of work.  TACT company members, whose cumulative experience includes scores of significant roles on and off Broadway, in the country’s finest regional theatres, and in many films and television shows, have received Emmy, Obie, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards, in addition to several Tony nominations.
