Tim Federle

Tim Federle was born in San Francisco, grew up in Pittsburgh, and performed in five Broadway shows, from Gypsy (starring Bernadette Peters) to The Little Mermaid (starring Tim in a catfish costume), with stops at Radio City, the Met, and a Super Bowl Half-time Show along the way. Tim is the author of over seven hundred emails and his debut novel, Better Nate Than Ever is about a small-town teen who crashes an audition for E.T.: The Musical and was inspired by his time coaching the child stars of Billy Elliot on Broadway. I try super hard not to overuse exclamation points.

3-way tie: selling my first novel to Simon & Schuster (“Better Nate Than Ever”), getting my first Broadway show (“Gypsy”), earning my first free burrito (“Chipotle”).

Continuing to find the courage to try my hand at things I might be very very bad at. Also, an Oscar.

Worrying.

Chipotle.

Q: What was the single most embarrassing moment you've ever experienced on the job?
I once wore a Tina Turner wig in a Super Bowl Half-time Show in front of 100 million people. I hadn’t come out to my dad yet. That sort of took care of it.

A sense of humor.
